TKL | Our Story

THAT KIND OF LOVE

GREAT FOOD BELONGS AT EVERY TABLE. TKL started with a food cart, a family, and a simple belief : You shouldn't have to choose between incredible food and an incredible price. What began with a food cart, a family and a love for good food became TKL — That Kind of Love. Today, we bring together two things we absolutely love: wild Maine lobster and seriously good burgers. Everything we do comes back to the same idea: Make it with care. Make it generous. Make it something you'd come back for. What started small in Miami became something much bigger — a place built around food we love, ingredients we believe in, and the people we love sharing it with. This is TKL. That Kind of Love.
IT ALL STARTED WITH A CRAVING.

IT ALL STARTED WITH A CRAVING.

Nawal & James has always loved lobster rolls. Everywhere they traveled, they would look for the perfect one — fresh lobster, warm buttery bread, the right balance of sauce and crunch. But there was always the same problem. A lobster roll was something you treated yourself to once in a while. Nawal & James didn't think it should be that way. Why shouldn't a family be able to sit down together and enjoy something special Without worrying about the bill? So they decided to do something about it.
FROM A LITTLE CART...

FROM A LITTLE CART...

MIAMI BEACH WAS JUST THE BEGINNING. Nawal and James started TKL with a food cart on Miami Beach. No big restaurant. No huge kitchen. No shortcuts. Just family, hard work, recipes, and a lot of determination. They brought their food to the streets of Miami and quickly discovered something: People weren't just hungry. They were looking for something different. The food cart became a place where people came for a quick bite and stayed because they felt something. Good food. Good energy. A little bit of home.
...TO TKL

...TO TKL

WE KEPT GOING. As TKL grew, one thing never changed: We wanted to make food we would be proud to serve our own family. That meant obsessing over the details. Our beef is hand-ground. Our fries are cut fresh and fried twice. Our brioche comes from a real bakery. Our sauces are made fresh. And our lobster? Real Maine lobster. Because when you're working with great ingredients, you don't need to hide them. You just need to treat them right.
THE BURGER CAME NEXT.

THE BURGER CAME NEXT.

BECAUSE WE COULDN'T STOP AT LOBSTER. Lobster may have started the story. But burgers became part of the TKL family. We wanted to make a burger that was simple in concept but serious in execution. - Quality beef. - A hot griddle. - Crispy edges. - A juicy center. - Melted cheese. - Fresh brioche. And sauces that make you want another bite before you've finished the first one. That's our kind of burger.
NEVER SETTLING.

NEVER SETTLING.

GOOD IS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH. We believe the best restaurants are always learning. That's why Nawal and James worked with Chef @bencutpepper to refine the sauces, flavors and details that make TKL what it is today. Not because something was wrong. Because it could be better. That Kind of Love means caring enough to keep improving.
TWO WORLDS. ONE TABLE.

TWO WORLDS. ONE TABLE.

FROM THE SEA. FROM THE GRILL. TKL brings together two things we genuinely love: WILD MAINE LOBSTER. Fresh, generous and treated with respect. SMASH BURGERS Hand-ground beef, crispy edges and big flavor. Different cravings. Same philosophy. Quality ingredients. Generous portions. Food made with care.
WHAT “THAT KIND OF LOVE” MEANS

WHAT “THAT KIND OF LOVE” MEANS

IT'S MORE THAN A NAME. TKL stands for That Kind of Love. The kind of love you put into a recipe. The kind of love you have for your family. The kind of love that makes you stay late to get something right. The kind of love you feel when someone takes their first bite and says: “Wow.” That's what we mean by TKL. It's not about making food complicated. It's about caring enough to make it special.
OUR PROMISE

OUR PROMISE

GREAT FOOD. NO SPECIAL OCCASION REQUIRED. We want lobster rolls to feel like something you can have on a Tuesday. We want burgers to feel like more than fast food. We want families to eat well without feeling like they have to choose between quality and value. And we want every person who walks into TKL to feel welcome. Come for the lobster. Come for the burgers. Come because you're hungry. But most importantly: Come as you are.
THIS IS TKL.

THIS IS TKL.

MIAMI. FAMILY. FOOD. LOVE. From a little food cart on Miami Beach to our table in Downtown Miami, the journey is still about the same thing: Bringing people together over food we love. And we're just getting started. TKL — THAT KIND OF LOVE.
